Arrowmen of Chickagami 180, Over the past few years I have seen that some of these bylaws have not been followed or have not worked out, because of this I have made a few changes. These changes must be announced and discussed before coming to a vote. I brought them before the Lodge at the Sunday Business Meeting at the Fall Conclave, the old and new proposed version are both available. Please read them and I have outlined the major changes for your convenience: 1) Vice-Chief of Vigil will be Chairman of Vigil Committee, the same such committee will handle all the awards of the lodge (Service Bolo, Vigil, Founder’s Award, Red Arrow Award, etc.) They will also assist the Lodge Chief with the Section C-2A DeCoursey award. 2) The Vice Chief of Conclave and Activities has been changed to Vice Chief of Activities and Service. The purpose of this is to eliminate dual leadership at conclaves (Lodge Chief is now responsible for planning conclave, may be delegated, is assisted by the VC of Activities and Service) and to increase the number of Fellowships and Lodge Service projects like the Day of Service. 3) The Vice Chief of Elections has been eliminated, The Vice Chief of Membership is required to keep both databases and chair the Election Team. The Election Team is not a committee but the VC of Membership is responsible for their activities. 4) The Secretary is responsible for upkeeping the Facebook page and Lodge Website. 5) Vice Chiefs are required to delegate some work to other members, this is to increase backstacking. 6) The points system for camperships has been put in place, kept track of by Vice Chief of Activities and Service and the Vice Chief of Treasury. 7) Vigil Committee and Vice Chief of Vigil changes. 8) Change in Key Policy: Re-settable combination lock replacing padlock on Ceremonies shed. The re-set key would be given to the Scout Executive and the combination would be known by Vice Chief of Ceremonies, the Adult Advisor for Ceremonies, the Lodge Advisor, Lodge Chief and Scout Executive.
I will happily discuss these with any member who may have better ideas, these are only suggestions. I would like for these to be discussed at Lodge Leadership Meetings and Membership Meetings throughout the remainder of the year and brought to a vote at the Annual Banquet in which case the new bylaws, if passed, would take effect at the Spring Conclave in 2010.
Respectfully, Alex P. Allen Lodge Chief Chickagami 180 Section C-2A Vice Chief
